

Consulting and Coaching Services

The purpose of the Academy is to provide educators, learners, parents, and communities with the ability to sustainably transform themselves, their learning community and school. The key word here is ‘sustainably‘ and it means that you are empowered to make and manage change. We can provide neat answers, fancy documents, diagrams, courses and presentations – but only you and your community can make the change you need. A learner-development-centred approach works at the human level. In this way, people from completely different cultures can understand and adopt it, albeit in different ways, reflecting and strengthening their own culture.
Although there are situations where answers and directions need to be given, and situations where mentoring works well, interaction with the Academy works mainly through coaching people. When we work together, you can expect a lot of questions – some of them will be easy to answer and some will be difficult, however, by you answering the questions, you are identifying and discovering your own solutions to the issues you face. When you come up with the answers, they are yours and that means something special – it means buy-in, greater probability of commitment and, at the end of the day, a great feeling of achievement and fulfilment.

When Do I Need a Consultant or Coach?
It is always great to have someone to consult on the issues we face. It is great to have a coach when we are unsure how to develop and manage change and when we are not sure why we are not moving forward. Limited consultations are far less expensive than whole curriculum reviews and perhaps more specific than workshops and so, although our consultation and coaching services are open for everyone, they are also for those schools that would otherwise find it difficult to engage us for presentations, workshops and curriculum review.

Curriculum Review and School Improvement Inventory
At the Academy, we see curriculum as ‘everything the learner experiences‘.
As such, our Curriculum Review Service looks into every aspect of school life and offers guidance, coaching, and support to your learning community to become a school that develops real learners. We review your processes, interactions, experiences. We help you develop tools and processes to ensure that learners develop and teacher professional capital enhanced. The process usually takes around 6-12 months depending on how deep you want us to go and how quick your community learns. However, we will promise two things:

We will try to get you where you need to be as quickly as possible

The process we use will try to instil sustainability in that your community will be able to take the progress forward by themselves.
Our School Improvement Inventory is a review of your school performed by Academy consultants either over a week-long in-person visit (or a slightly longer online process) preceded by documentation review and followed up with a full report on the possibilities we see for future improvement towards developing holistic learners and raising teacher professional capital and establishing the culture of a learning organisation.
Both processes can be done online to reduce costs however in-person visits are of course preferable for that human contact.
